Hitman 3 – Cloud Version Coming to Nintendo Switch This Month
Other / 18. 1. 2021

Hitman 3 – Cloud Version for Nintendo Switch will be released on January 20, 2021 – the same day as PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. Announced on Twitter by IO Interactive, Hitman 3 – Cloud Version is the exact same version as the other platforms, but is a cloud-based version that requires a persistent internet connection to play. Hitman 3 – Cloud Version was revealed at the Nintendo Direct Mini in October 2020 and follows Control’s Cloud Version that was released following that same Nintendo Direct Mini. [ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/28/hitman-3-nintendo-switch-announcement”] Ahead of its release, we were able to get one final preview of Hitman 3, in which we said “Hitman 3’s sandbox is vast and filled with many toys. Sure, it still has some cheesy dialogue and voice acting, as well as some goofy animations, but overall I’m extremely impressed by what I’ve played so far.” Hitman 3 is the end of the trilogy that began with the first Hitman in 2016. Alongside taking Agent 47 to new locations like Chongqing, this new game will also bring the rendering, animation, and AI upgrades of Hitman 3 to the missions of Hitman 1 and 2, which…

Hitman 2 PC Owners Will Be Able to Import Locations to Hitman 3 For Free
Other / 17. 1. 2021

Those who own Hitman and Hitman 2 on PC will be able to import locations into Hitman 3 for free, although not at launch. IO Interactive announced the news on Twitter and revealed that, even though the import feature won’t be available on January 20 when the PC version launches exclusively on the Epic Games Store, the Hitman 1 GOTY Access Pass will be free to all players who pre-purchase or purchase Hitman 3 in the first 10 days after release to help make up for it. IO Interactive assures that players will not need to repurchase these older games and that the import feature will be available in “the coming weeks.” [widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=hitman-3-all-locations-in-game&captions=true”] As of this writing, only Hitman and Hitman 3 are available for purchase/pre-purchase on the Epic Games Store, and there is currently no way to show that you purchased Hitman 2 from another store. As detailed in Hitman 3’s pre-launch guide, players will be able to carryover their progression from Hitman 2 at launch through a web browser. While that process hasn’t been detailed yet, it will require an IOI Account. For those who don’t own a previous version of Hitman and wish to play…

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game sold over 25,000 copies on Switch in under 3 hours
Other / 17. 1. 2021

Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game – Complete Edition has been a very successful modern re-launch, according to Limited Run Games. Though the digital version of Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game was published by Ubisoft, it was Limited Run Games that oversaw the physical release of the game. Limited Run Games is responsible for three versions of Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game – Complete Edition, and pre-orders for the Switch and PS4 versions of the base game, the Classic Edition, or the K.O. Edition opened up on January 15. “In less than 3 hours we sold 25,000 copies of Scott Pilgrim on Switch!” tweeted Limited Run Games’ Douglas Bogart (via Siliconera). “Thank you so much for your support in making this our biggest release of all time!” Perhaps some of the appetite for the new version of the game comes from its peculiar history: it first launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in August 2010. The game was delisted four years later, and there’s been widespread confusion about why it was removed from storefronts (and why it’s been unavailable) ever since. Since Limited Run announced it would be shipping physical versions of the title, then, the company has seen a huge…

John Wick writer set to pitch a new Dungeon & Dragons live-action adaptation
Other / 17. 1. 2021

Derek Kolstad – writer for the John Wick franchise as well as Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – is reportedly developing a new series pitch based upon Dungeons & Dragons. According to Variety, it’s just one of several D&D projects currently underway – apparently Hasboro film studio eOne is also in talks about a Dungeon & Dragons project – although Kolstad’s treatment “is expected to craft a story that will capture crucial aspects of the franchise through a live-action lens”. As you might well expect, not much else is yet known about the project – Variety says “details on where Kolstad plans to take the storyline or how he intends to expand the franchise have not yet been revealed” – but it’s thought it hopes to capitalise on the boost in new D&D fans that started playing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Director confirmed for the TV adaptation of The Last of Us
Other / 17. 1. 2021

Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov will reportedly be directing the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. Although it was initially speculated that the production would reunite Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin with director Johan Renck, Hollywood Reporter states Renck had to drop out because of a scheduling conflict, and now Balagov is slated to take the director reins. According to HR, this suggests “HBO is aiming for a serious dramatic tone for the adaptation”. HBO greenlit the new television adaptation of The Last of Us at the end of last year. As well as Mazin, the project is progressing under the watch of the game’s writer Neil Druckmann, alongside PlayStation Productions, Word Games, and, of course, Naughty Dog. Read more

Cyberpunk 2077 staff didn’t think game should ship in 2020, the 2018 demo was ‘entirely fake’ and more – report
Other / 17. 1. 2021

A new report has given us a deeper insight into the development and launch of Cyberpunk 2077, with comments from the studio challenging the contentious write-up after its publication. According to Bloomberg, Cyberpunk 2077’s development was even more troubled than the studio let on – even in spite of the months of delays the game eventually suffered. A massive new report over on the site (protected by a paywall) dives into the nitty-gritty of the game’s troubled development, revealing tensions between the development staff and CD Projekt’s management. One developer told Bloomberg that working on the game was like “trying to drive a train while the tracks are being laid in front of you at the same time” and that “[staff] expected the game to be ready in 2022.” The Bloomberg report also infers that the Cyberpunk 2077 demo that was shown off back in 2018 was “almost entirely fake”. “CD Projekt hadn’t yet finalized and coded the underlying gameplay systems, which is why so many features, such as car ambushes, were missing from the final product,” Bloomberg noted of the demo. “Developers said they felt like the demo was a waste of months that should have gone toward making…

Star Wars Battlefront 2 servers are still struggling with an influx of new players courtesy of Epic’s giveaway
Other / 17. 1. 2021

A heap of shiny new Star Wars Battlefront II players courtesy of the latest Epic Games Store giveaway have crashed the servers. As we reported last week, Epic’s current freebie – the Celebration Edition of Battlefront II – features all the post-launch additions, as well as all cosmetic content previously available as in-game purchases, right up to and including those released as part of the game’s Rise of Skywalker update. However, since the freebie was launched many players have had problems connecting to the online servers, reporting error codes 623, 918, and 721 – all of which translate to server issues. Read more
