We’ve reported on the unofficial spiritual successor to Shigesato Itoi’s beloved RPG series for years. The last we heard, the exciting fan-made project was due out as a free download on PC in the summer of 2015. Then, the game put you in the role of three kids and a biker gang tasked with uncovering the “Modern Men” conspiracy. Read more

This super realistic Dreams fry-up is making me very hungry indeed
Other / 4. 1. 2020

Media Molecule’s Dreams is known for user-generated video games – platformers, shooters, puzzlers, that sort of thing. It is not, however, known for food. But one developer at the Guildford studio has created a virtual fry up that looks so good you feel like reaching out to eat it – even if there’s something a bit unnerving about the whole thing. The fry up below, created in Dreams on a PlayStation 4, is the work of Media Molecule’s senior principal designer John Beech. It’s incredible detailed – you can almost taste the fried eggs just by looking at them. He calls it the “Full Beech Breakfast”. Read more

Crytek wants to dismiss its own lawsuit against Star Citizen developer CIG until Squadron 42 comes out
Other / 4. 1. 2020

Crysis developer Crytek wants to dismiss its own lawsuit against Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games until the standalone single-player Squadron 42 comes out. Crytek believes there’s no point in going ahead with a trial in June 2020 as planned because its claims revolve around the release of Squadron 42 as a standalone game – and it doesn’t look like that’s happening any time soon. Crytek initially sued CIG for breaching copyright and developing two games with CryEngine while holding a licence to develop just one. CIG has claimed it switched over to Amazon’s Lumberyard game engine. Read more

English dub of Ni No Kuni movie comes to Netflix this month
Other / 4. 1. 2020

The Ni No Kuni movie will be released on Netflix later this month. The Ni No Kuni movie hits Netflix on January 16. It’s the English dub of the film. It was originally released in Japan in August 2019. It was directed by Studio Ghibli animator Yoshiyuki Momose who worked on the film Spirited Away. Momose also worked on both games in the Ni No Kuni series (thanks, GamesRadar). In the film, “two average teens” will go on a magical quest to “save the life of their friend and her counterpart” from another world. And apparently, love will complicate the journey. Doesn’t it always? You can watch the trailer for the film at the link. If you aren’t interested in the movie but are a fan of the games, you’ll be pleased to know a third title is in the works. Details are still pretty scarce at the moment, but Level 5 confirmed the news back in July. The latest game in the series, Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, was released in 2018. The original game, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, was released for Switch in September 2019 alongside the PS4 and PC remaster. The post English…
